WARM, HEALING TURMERIC PORRIDGE
1 cup (240 grams) of buckwheat flakes
1 cup (240 grams) of oat's
3 cups of almond milk (480 grams)
½ cup of water (120 grams)
Pinch of cardamom
Pinch of salt
Splash of maple syrup to top it off for extra caramel flavour
1 tsp. of turmeric
Pinch of pepper
1 teaspoon of coconut oil
Coconut yogurt - optional
Pistachios – optional
In a pan gently heat up your coconut oil with turmeric and a pinch of pepper. These three elements put together; fat with pepper and turmeric, activate each other and bring out the best healing properties. This has been done for centuries in countries such as India and ancient ayurvedic healing.
Then add your almond milk along with buckwheat, oat flakes and pinch of pink salt. Gently heat up until it all comes together nicely like traditional porridge.
I like adding more spices such as cardamom and cinnamon but this is entirely up to you.
Portion porridge into bowls; I like topping it off with coconut yogurt, orange zest, maple syrup and pistachios for oriental twist
