Meet the Makers, Henrietta Norton of Wild Nutrition

To create products with purpose, backed by science, and using natural ingredients of exceptional quality. Wild Nutrition guiding principles are to support a holistic approach to health, to affect tangible change – and challenge the wellness industry as they knew it. It was an uncompromising vision – and it remains so today.

Wild Nutrition is rooted in expertise. Their founder, Henrietta Norton BSc Dip NT, is a best-selling author and highly-regarded nutritional practitioner – but it was her work as a formulator for some of the biggest food supplement brands in Europe that forced her to confront the reality of modern supplementation. When she realised there was nothing on the market that she could wholeheartedly recommend, she and her husband Charlie set out to create their own Food-Grown® supplements – a decision that would disrupt the wellness industry for the better.

Today Wild Nutrition is stocked in 52 countries around the world, with a team committed to driving wellness on a global scale. As their communities grow, so does their vision. Now, more than ever, They are committed to supporting the planet: from environmentally-conscious packaging, to business initiatives that instil respect for our natural world. After all, nature is in our DNA: it’s our inspiration, the seed that sparks change, and the foundation for their formulas that have helped people of all ages to live life in balance.

I have now become one of Wilds ambassadors and have been using their products for the last two months under the supervision of their head nutritionist. My main reason for choosing them is the fact that they create food grown supplements, their sustainable angel and also they have supplements that help hormonal issues specifically for women.

We had the great honour of getting to know Henrietta and her work a little better with our meet-the-maker Q&A:

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself

Henrietta Norton, Founder of wellness brand Wild Nutrition.

Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?

A doctor or nurse

Q: What inspired you to go into your line of work?

A long term deep fascination with the human body from a young age and later on personal
health issues that meant I sought the help of a Nutritional Therapist. This began a journey into
qualifying as a Nutritional Therapist where I have spent the last 17 years working as a nutritional
therapist and as a product developer for the supplement industry. This experience in the
supplement world motivated me to create a change, and do it differently. This resulted in the
birth of Wild Nutrition in 2013.

Q: How has the journey been – What would you change?

It has been a road with wonderful views and a healthy dose of pot holes too :). It has consumed
an untold amount of energy, passion and commitment but has never failed to reward.

Q: How’s your business journey been, and what would you change?

A: Running your own business can be full of ups and downs, and sometimes it can be hard to switch off. Over the last few years I’ve gained a different perspective on all that, and now I find it a lot easier to not get too worked up! I definitely used to take things far too personally – but now I just take whatever comes up on board, accept it and then move forward.

Q: What food sparks joy in your life?

Most naturally grown, seasonal food cooked with attention and simple flavours has the ability to
completely rock my world – very dull really isn’t it, but it has always been this way. I do also
have to admit I get great joy from artisan crisps! Everything in balance….

Q: What do you wish someone told you before you started?

Starting a business can be quite lonely, despite the fact that both my husband and I were
running it together. So I wish I had known of an inspiring and supportive entrepreneurs network
to join.

Q: What would you tell someone who’s trying to make it in this sector?

Get as much work experience as you can to get an experiential understanding of the industry
rather than just a concept.

Q: What failure are you glad you experienced?

It’s not failure per se but I am very grateful for the uncertain and hard work for no return that we
needed to do at the beginning because when momentum takes hold and the brand starts
flowing and growing, the sense of pride is indescribable.
